Here is a quick update on what is happening in room A110.
ELA: We made our cursive joke books. We’ll have them on display at the Ed Showcase on March 25th. We have been working hard with comprehension this week. I gave a couple of quizzes to go with our Patricia Polacco The core words for this week are learn, toward, play, city and point.
Math: We started Geometry this week. We are also continually reviewing multiplication.
Science: We have been learning about volcanoes this week. We talked about the Earth’s crust having plates. We used hard boiled eggs to demonstrate both the plates and the layers of the Earth.
Social Studies: We put the finishing touches on our PowerPoints this week. We hope you can see them at the Ed. Showcase on March 25th. We also did a 5- paragraph research activity this week on a famous person in Michigan’s history. They chose between Chief Pontiac, Tecumseh, Jaques Marquette and Oliver Perry. They did a great job.
I have updated my newsletter and added some websites to my district website. You can view it at http://www.central-montcalm.org/start/index.php. Choose the Upper Elementary and then find my name. Once there, you can click on the red attachment that says class page. This is one of the things I learned at last Friday’s professional Development.
Thursday, April 1st: We will have a Read-Athon in the afternoon. Kids can bring pillows, blankets, books, snacks, drinks, etc.
Colder weather is coming next week.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
